Have you ever been in the middle of a school project and you hit the print button to print your project and then about half way through printing your printer stops printing and says “your are out of Ink”. You then frantically begin to look for the extra ink cartridges that you think you have, but in reality you don’t. At this particular spot in time, this situation now turns into one of those “AAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHH” moments. There is nothing worse than running out of ink! Ink is just one of those things we don’t think to check on until its too late. Sometimes this is how we handle our spiritual life. We go through our daily routines and deal with the things of the world, depleting our spiritual (ink)strength and then all of the sudden when we need it the most to help us walk away from that luring or enticing moment our spiritual Ink(strength) has run out and we end up sinning. Romans 12:2 “….be transformed by the renewal of your mind….”. Just like our printers take ink(and a good supply of ink) our spiritual lives take renewing from time spent in God’s word, and through prayer with Him. Let me encourage to spend time renewing you spiritual strength everyday, so that you don’t run out of that ink(strength) when you need it right in the middle of a spiritual project.
The Greatest game ever played. What is it? Some would say Golf, others baseball, and still others would football. To each person there is a great sport and within that sport there is a “Greatest Game ever played” I watched the movie “miracle” the other day and it is about the USA Mens Hockey team from the 1980 Winter Olympics. USA was battling against the Soviet team that had not been defeated in quite some time. Coach Herb Brooks brings together a group of men from all over the USA together to form a team. They go through some growing pains before they actually begin to work and function as a team. Before the final game for the gold medal, coach Brooks is in the locker room with the men and gives a speech to them before they head out to play the final game. Coach Brooks says this ” Great moments are born from great opportunity”. They Men’s Winter Olympic team of 1980 won the gold medal that year and pulled off something many people thought would never happen and quite possibly was the greatest game ever played. As Christians we are to honor and glorify God with our lives. He has given us the great opportunity for us to go and tell others about Him. So my question to you is this….Are you making great moments taken from the great opportunities that are given to you. There is no greater moment in life than one comes up out of the water from a baptism. That Moment came about because of a great opportunity. Be a part of the greatest life ever lived and enjoy some of the greatest moments in life to ever be.
It’s 2014!!! So…do you have big plans for this year? If you think about it, 2014 will bring all kinds of things for you. Some of you will graduate this year while others will begin their Senior year and some of you will leave Middle School and begin High School. You will go places you have never been and see things you have never seen. Some of you will start college this year while others of you will graduate college. Some of you will fall in love with someone and some of you will even get married. 2014…it is going to bring some pretty cool things for you this year. During all these experiences, don’t forget the one person who has made all this possible…God. Make sure He is at the center of everything you do this year. When you have a triumph; rejoice with Him, when you have a struggle; confide in Him, when you feel blessed; thank Him, when you feel sad; seek His joy. He is always there and will be there with you through 2014. Love Him, honor Him, glorify Him, and serve Him.
Wouldn’t it be nice to be sitting on the beach some where enjoying the breeze and watching the sun set. The colors in the sky would be amazing to see, and the sound of the waves would almost put you sleep. As you sit there watching the sunset you begin to watch the waves roll onto the sand. Have you ever thought about waves? They are constant…..they never stop. At times they are massive as they crash onto the sand, then there are times they are so small as if they are hardly moving, but the waves never cease to come upon the beach. Another thing about the waves is that they change everytime they hit the sand. They are never the same. Pretty neat when you really sit down and notice the waves. We as people are a lot like waves. Things in our life at times seem big or small just like those waves. And, as life goes things change day to day, week to week, year to year. We are changing with things that life throws at us. Here is what i want you to think about….not matter how big or little the waves life are, and no matter how things might change there is one thing that is always there. The beach, the sand, it is always there ready to take on the crashing of a huge wave or the rippling of a small wave. God is always there in our life. He never goes away. He is there ready to take on our big waves of life or the rippling in our life, and the constant changes in our life, but he is always there ready and waiting for us to come to Him. Make sure you take time today and everyday to spend with Him.
Friends…..we all have them right. We all have a best friend that we hang out with all the time and do everything together. But, there are times when that friend does something to you that just frosts you, i mean it really makes you angry! Hey, cant we just get along with each other? Anger…..have you ever asked your self if it is ok to be angry at someone? What does the bible say? In Matthew 5:22-24 says this 22 But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister, will be subject to judgment………..23 “Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, 24 leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift.” Eph 4:26-27 says ” 26 “In your anger do not sin”: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, 27 and do not give the devil a foothold.” So what does the bible say about being angry? It is ok to be angry, but in such a way that it does not cause you to sin. The other part about being angry, is that we need to fix the issue quickly(matt 5:24). Why do we to do that? Because, if we don’t get rid of the anger quickly it allows satan to get a foothold within us and to use it against us(Eph 4:27) and cause even more problems for you and your friend and in your relationship with God. So, the next time you get angry or upset with a friend, don’t let that anger last, but fix the issue with your friend quickly, so that the anger does not cause you to sin or allow satan to use that against you to drive you further from your friend and also from God.
